A reporting layer tells you what happened. An instrumentation layer tells you what to change, ranks it by consequence, and shows its work.

We build the second kind. Every system we ship is grounded in a specific operator's own data, measured against their own baseline — never a benchmark borrowed from someone else's business.

Ground truth, not a convenience sample

We take the whole record — transactional, operational, and public-signal — and reconcile it into one queryable substrate with its lineage attached. Sampling is a decision that gets made once and then silently constrains every answer downstream, so we do not make it.

Baselines before verdicts

Nothing is scored until there is a stable baseline to score against. A number without a baseline is a guess wearing a decimal point, and a guess with a decimal point is more dangerous than no number at all because it survives the meeting.

One decision per surface

Each view answers exactly one question and shows the derivation that produced it. If we cannot show how a number was made, that number does not ship — no exceptions, including when the number is flattering.

Evidence over intuition

Every claim in a VIML system resolves to a row someone can inspect. Provenance is a feature, not documentation.

Constraints before creativity

We fix the schema, the baseline, and the definition of done first. Unconstrained systems drift toward whatever is easiest to compute.

Verify against the artifact

Nothing is complete because the code looks right. It is complete when the rendered result has been inspected and measured.

Honest negatives

When the data cannot support a conclusion, the system says so. A blank state beats a confident fabrication.

The number is not the product. The reason you can trust the number is the product.
